TEHRAN -- Iran is expecting detailed explanations from the International Atomic Energy Ministry (IAEA) on the contents of a supplementary protocol to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi stated in Tehran on Wednesday.
"Iran's request to the IAEA to send experts to discuss the problem does not mean that Tehran has already made a decision to sign the protocol, it only testifies to the fact that we are studying this question," Kharrazi pointed out.
"There are still many uncertainties over this document and we hope that the experts will be able to answer our questions," he said.
According to the minister, the signing of the protocol will fasten Iran with 'large liabilities'. "So the public opinion and the parliament which should approve this document should be thoroughly informed about it," Kharrazi emphasized.
